The gingerbread is attached to a sturdy wooden frame and base. This provides support for the building, a clean receptacle for the cards, and a place to run the wiring for the lights.  The base for the hill, stream and pond is made of Styrofoam. 

Candy covered chocolate, these rocks look amazingly real!  The waterfall and streambed, planters in front, and the belfry are also made of these.

The back side of the roof is hinged.

Walls are on - some landscaping done, but no shingles yet - no fence, etc.
